Insecure Talk Tuesday

Talk Tuesday

Hey my fine folks! Hope everyone out there is doing well! As some of you may know Insecure is back for it’s final season. It’s hella bittersweet. Watching this show for 5 years, I have fallen in love with the characters, the storyline and the soundtrack and I am truly going to miss seeing this powerful show full of beautiful Black people. So with that being said, I thought I would dedicate my next 10 Talk Tuesday’s to the last 10 episodes, so let’s get into it. In Season 5, episode 1 titled “Reunited, Okay?!” we see Issa and the gang headed back to their alma mater, Stanford University for a 10 year reunion. Issa and Molly are figuring out how to get back to their old ways with each other, Issa is on a panel to talk about her entrepreneurship and other shenanigans take place in the episode. I don’t want to do a recap of the show, but I do want to talk about a few moments that stood out for me. There’s a moment that Issa talks to her college aged self in the mirror and it just made me emotional lol. I mean the things I would love to tell to my younger self to prepare her better for this thing called life. While Issa is on the panel, she is asked a question about how she knew starting her business was the right thing. She responds with not really knowing if she did make the right decision and “maybe I’ll wake up and realize I’ve wasted all my time and that’s time you can’t get back” Whew! Talk about full on tears when she said that. That hit me right in the gut because you guys know how much I struggle with just that! You feel like where did all the time go and what have I accomplished you know? Another scene that stood out to me was once Issa got back home, she had made the decision that she couldn’t move forward with her ex boyfriend/current boyfriend given the circumstances of him having a child on the way with his ex girlfriend. Call me selfish, but I totally agree with her regarding this. I mean how do you start a new relationship, when you have something so heavy happening. I couldn’t see myself trying to build a relationship, while my significant other is preparing for his first born with someone else and having all these important moments with someone else. We deserve love that doesn’t come with the struggle and the drama you know what I mean? Let’s talk! Do you watch Insecure? If so, what was your favorite part of this episode. If not, what do you think of the moments I described above? See you next week. From Jaime With Love.
