Hello, My beautiful people! I hope you guys have been well (all things considered.) I am back for another edition of “Let’s Read!” Let’s hop into it dahhling. The Butterfly Queen herself, dropped her autobiography on 9/29, and I promise you it did not take me this long to read it. I had to read the book and then listen to the audible version of it as well. I mean come on! It is Mariah after all. I needed the full experience of “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.” So just one option just wasn’t going to do. I love books, actual physical books. I have never been much of a fan of listening to or reading them on kindles or what not, but even it I didn’t, I still would have made sure I owned a physical copy of this book. However, before even reading it, I knew once I read it I was going to want to listen to the audible version as well, because MC herself is narrating the book and I just knew some singing was going to come along with it as well and I was right. Anyway, so my take on the book? I didn’t think I could love MC anymore than I already did, but here I am. I also think even more so in awe of her talent. I always say Mariah doesn’t get the credit she deserves as a song writer, but I hope people reading the book (who weren’t necessarily big fans of Mariah) will come away realizing and appreciating her talent as a song writer. To know that the bulk of her songs come from some life experience she has had or learning the way a song formed from a certain situation. In the book she talks about her childhood, her marriages, her abuse, the music industry, her LOVE for music and everything in between. On the audible version she intertwines singing or talking the music lyrics or playing actual snippets from the songs. It’s a bonus that you must enjoy! If you have ever listened to a MC song, and autobiographies are your thing, take the time to sit back and read about this fascinating Icon!
