Whew! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done a book review, so let’s just jump into it! “Where’d You Go Bernadette?” has been on my list for quite some time to read so I am glad I finally got around to it. It’s about a woman, who is extremely intelligent and a bit on the “quirky side.” With certain pressures pressing in on her, she is nearly on the verge of a breakdown, when she up’s and disappears. The storyline is about her daughter looking into the details of her current life and past life to try to find where her mother is. In my opinion, the styling of this story is written in a different way. It’s not written in the “traditional” format. It weaves together emails between different characters, memo’s, notes etc. to tell the story. Once you finish the book, I think you will find that the title has a double meaning. It’s a quick read, but very funny and heartwarming. If you are looking for a feel good book, this is the one for you. Side Note: The movie, in my opinion, doesn’t hold up to the book’s story. Cate Blanchett is amazing (because, when isn’t she?) but the book is so fun and whimsical, and the movie just doesn’t capture all the twists and turns that the book gives us. See you next time!
